How do I change the order in which locations are listed when the locator first loads

A common requirement is to be able to set the order in which locations are listed when our store locator software first loads on your web page.

The default behavior when the locator first loads is to that list of locations is ordered by their distance from the centerpoint of the map. This applies to the starting map position as set on the Starting Map View page in our admin console so the location order will always be the same unless this view is adjusted to a different centerpoint.

There is a setting to change this order to Alphabetical order via a setting on your Settings page called 'Initial Location List Order' which defaults to the 'In order of distance from map center' as described above. Set this to 'In alphabetical order' instead to automatically sort locations in alphabetical order when the locator software first loads. This setting will be retained if Search Distance or Filter settings are adjusted as long as a search has not been conducted via the My Location or address search field. As soon as a search is conducted either by automatic geolocation (the 'My Location' button) or an address being searched for in the search field then the location order will revert to the distance from the centerpoint of the map.

If you'd like more control over the location order, you can set the Display Order on an individual location basis to retain complete control over the list order. This can be done by either editing each location manually in our admin console and setting the Display Order field. Or, you can set a value for 'Display_Order' in your Bulk Import file. A setting of 1 means that location will be shown first, 2 for second etc. For any locations which don't have a Display Order set, their order will revert to the order set in the 'Initial Location List Order' setting.
