A Storemapper alternative with the features it never caught up on

Overview

What is Storemapper?

Storemapper launched around 2012 as one of the first store locator subscription services, and for years it was the market leader. Late 2020 brought a brand new dashboard that dragged an admittedly archaic admin console into the world of responsive design, with an elegant and easy-to-use interface.

The locator itself is solid — fully responsive, with basic filtering, and usable with both Google Maps and Mapbox. Where StoreLocatorReview found it trailing is the depth of the feature set: filtering, analytics and appearance are all described as being at the basic level and well behind the more advanced locators it competes with.

Reviewers also flagged operational gotchas: Google Sync permission requirements described as a major security concern, an import process that either fails without an error message or makes you redefine column mappings on every import, and CSV as the only supported import format. Storemapper was placed fifth overall and marked Not Recommended, while Store Locator Widgets was ranked first for feature breadth, admin capability and support quality. Both products change over time — check current details before you commit.

FAQ

Storemapper vs Store Locator Widgets

Is Store Locator Widgets better than Storemapper?

On the independent StoreLocatorReview rankings, yes — we were placed first and rated Best in Class, while Storemapper was placed fifth and marked Not Recommended. Storemapper’s newer dashboard is a genuine improvement, but filtering, analytics and appearance were still rated basic.

Can I migrate my Storemapper locations?

Yes, at no cost. Send us your export and we will bring locations, custom fields and filters across, then check the result with you before you go live.

Storemapper only imports CSV — do you support Excel?

Yes. CSV and Excel both, with column mappings saved so repeat imports take seconds, plus a location API if you would rather sync automatically.

Do I need my own Google Maps billing account?

No. Every plan includes a generous mapping allowance, and OpenStreetMap usage is unlimited.

Will it work on my platform?

Yes. Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow, Wix, BigCommerce, Magento and any site where you can paste an HTML snippet.
